What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is the traditional medicinal system of India and today this sytem is practiced worldwide. In many countries Ayurveda is slowly replacing the western medicinal treatments, and have been so far effective. Ayurveda is a slow treatment process, but its healing power is amazing. The word Ayur means "life" and Veda means "related to knowledge". Ayurveda is believed to have come into existence during the vedic period in India.

Ayurveda treatments and remedies have much difference when compared with the western system of treatments. Rather than giving importance to the symptoms of a disease Ayurveda focuses more on maintaining the balance of the life energies within a human being. Since the last century Ayurveda has grown out of India and have fastly spread all over the world and gained international attention. A large number of people flock to India to get ayurvedic treatments for their illness and diseases.

Ayurveda treatment follows some strict diets, diagnosis, therapies, purification processes etc, which has to be obeyed in order to get the desired results for the illness. Even though the ayurvedic treatments are slow, it removes the illness from the root so that it never surfaces again, unlike the western treatment system. So one need to have the required patience and faith in ayurveda medicinal system, if he is to be cured completely.

More ayurvedic treatments, diseases, therapies etc would be blogged here and hope that all of you would stay tuned for the next post.
